Simard Transport - Logistics Coordinator

2022 - 2023

Worked for one of Simard ltd, one of Canada’s leading transporting companies. Simard offers road and rail freight logistics services.

• Liaison between clients and carriers; pertaining to matters such as freight documentation, chassis waiting time, unit detention time, refusal charges, and any other general and related issues or inquiries

• Coordinating empty units for loading and re-loading. Timely rail billing of units, preventing detention fees. Gained 3D Game experience using Unreal Engine and Blueprints.

• Monitoring units on the Canadian Pacific Railway system; Order tendering; placing orders for empty units to deliver to Simard`s or client facilities

• Liaising with clients on matters pertaining to the receival of inbound units. Communicate and manage transit-related delays for units inbound to the client`s facility. Simard System-related (Logirack invitatory control system); Order creation for FTL and LTL loads. Closing of completed orders. Processing of carrier invoices.

Bester Feed and Grain - Logistics Coordinator

2016 - 2021

Worked for Bester Feed and Grain, one of South Africa’s top agricultural trading companies. Specializing in the domestic and international marketing of agricultural commodities.

• Forecasting and load planning: weekly evaluation of pending deliveries using open sales queries.

• Loading slot scheduling with Suppliers / Warehouses, communication on load-specific details. Product bagging, product placing during transport, and other client-specific needs.

• Inventory management: provisions monthly; stock adjustments; semi-annual contract reconciliation; interpreting and processing of supplier/warehouse documentation

• administrative tasks: invoicing, capturing sales orders, retrieving and sending generated client contracts, follow up on signed client contracts.

• Risk minimalization; Ensuring Goods in Transit insurance and client / supplier contract are in effect.

• cursory experience of cross-border transport; obtaining necessary documentation for Permit approval (Supplier documentation, Certificate of Analysis, Certificate of Origin); handling of SADC certificates; load and transport coordination; coordination for Veterinary Permit sign-off; custom and documentation approval.
